From Religion to A Relationship With God PDF Print E-mail
Marv and Jan

My family's ancestors were Mormon pioneers in Utah. My parents were Temple Mormons and my siblings and I were sealed to them for all eternity. While growing up, I often tried to proselyte others to my religion. My first convert joined the LDS Church when I was in the seventh grade. When I was a Teacher in the Aaronic Priesthood I met some Christians in high school that I thought would make good Mormons. As I shared my beliefs with them, they asked questions that I couldn't answer. I asked my LDS leaders the same questions, but they couldn't answer them either. So, I read the LDS scriptures looking for the answers, but I didn't find them. I also read the writings of several LDS prophets and found they often contradicted each other as well as their scripture, which confused me even more. While reading the Bible, I saw in Acts that early Christians preached Christ (Acts 5:42; 8:5, 35; 9:20; 16:31). My message had been about Joseph Smith and his visions.

Then I read in Romans 5:1 that peace with God comes through faith in Jesus Christ. I prayed and asked God to give me His peace, and He did.
